In my dream I would eat fresh berries all year around. However, in real life it`s possible only for a couple of months in my home country. That season is coming to end soon. One of the berries I like a lot are currants. My favourite ones are black currants but also red currants are good.
We picked up black and red currants for freezing in the beginning of September. It`s almost a habit that me and my brother`s spouse go to my parents`place to pick up currants for ourselves. In that way we can talk together and pick up all the berries the same time almost without noticing it.
There are many reasons why I eat a lot of different kinds of currants;
- Currants taste good; For example black currant juice – delicious both hot and cold!
- Currants are good for health; For example, mix natural yoghurt, black currants (and some other berries, like strawberries), a little bit of honey and different kinds of seeds (pumpkin seeds, linseeds etc.). Good breakfast and good preventative medicine against flu!
- Currants are good for skin, like berries in general; If I don`t eat berries at all for a week, I notice that my skin starts to dry out despite how much moisturizing cream I use.
